RTÉ One still made use of in-vision continuity; however, such links were largely restricted to start and end of day, and early-evening. Until around late-1994, CSO was used, with an electronically-generated image appearing behind the announcer. This proved a problem when mixing directly to the clock at closedown though (i.e., with no 'black' in-between). The background image for the clock was generated by the same kit that produced the IVC backdrop. As soon as fading to the clock commenced, the background for the clock would appear while the announcer was still in-vision. Around 1996, a real set was introduced.
Unfortunately, we don't have much footage of RTÉ One in-vision continuity from this period in our archive. If you have recordings of continuity links/presentation from this period, or recollections of presentation from these years, we'd be delighted to hear from you.
